On Saturday, March 25, 2023, the Royal Military Police arrested more than 100 Extinction Rebellion demonstrators at Eindhoven Airport. After a demonstration scheduled for 2 pm ended, a remaining group did not want to leave the site.
Action group Extinction Rebellion is concerned about the climate and the environment. The group regularly organizes actions and events, such as earlier this month on the A12 in The Hague and at Schiphol Airport at the end of last year. On Saturday, Extinction Rebellion aimed its arrows at Eindhoven Airport.
Point made
At the end of the demonstration, the Royal Military Police had to intervene for a second time. People were lifted and pulled up by arms and legs to put them on a bus. They were escorted off the site in coaches. Those buses go to several places. A large part of the action group had already left, they did not want to risk arrest. “We have made our point”, most said on departure.
