Despite political criticism of airport, Eindhoven Airport builds terminal for millions of extra passengers
While Eindhoven Airport is starting to build a terminal that can accommodate millions of extra passengers, Eindhoven politicians are being very critical of the airport. But according to the airport, the mega terminal is necessary because the current building is far too small.
‘A necessary evil’, ‘castle in the air’ and ‘unnecessary holiday flights’: Eindhoven city council members were critical of Eindhoven Airport last week. Airport boss Roel Hellemons responded light-heartedly: “Everyone is allowed to have an opinion. As long as we don’t change the agreements we have made in the meantime.” Hellemons said this on Monday, shortly after the official start of the construction of the new mega terminal.
