One of the objectives of Residents’ Association Meerhoven is to connect residents with each other. Meerhoven is a neigbourhood with a great diversity of cultures. And as everyone knows, food plays an important social role in every culture and contributes to connection. That is why Residents’ Association Meerhoven introduces ‘Eat to Meet Meerhoven’.

‘Eat to Meet Meerhoven’ is a three-course dinner full of meetings, socializing and culinary discoveries. This event offers the perfect opportunity to get to know each other better, share stories and taste different cultures!
International cuisine
During this evening you walk from house to house, where you can enjoy a delicious dish from a different cuisine at each stop. The composition of the group is different at each stop. With participants from different cultural backgrounds, this is not only a feast for the taste buds, but also a unique way to get to know the various traditions and customs of your neighbours.
Get started yourself
The great thing about this concept is that you are not only going to eat at someone else’s house, but you are also responsible for preparing one part of the dinner
for six people! You will receive information in advance about which course you can prepare. In this way, we all contribute to an unforgettable culinary evening.
Costs
You pay the costs of the course you prepare yourself. For the rest of the dinner you pay no costs.
Date
‘Eat to Meet Meerhoven’ will take place on Saturday, 15 February 2025. You start at 6 pm at the location of the starter and end at 10 pm at De Hangar for a joint drink until midnight. The first two drinks are at the expense of Residents’ Association Meerhoven.
Register
You can register until Monday, 6 January 2025 via the online registration form. This can be done alone or as a couple. If you register alone, you will be paired with someone else who registers alone. Be quick, because full is full! Please note: this activity is for adults only! We hope to have an unforgettable evening together!

- Do you have to be a good cook / a kitchen prince(ss)?
No, that is not necessary. It is about having a fun evening together.
Tip: Choose a dish from your country of origin.
Tip: Choose a dish that you can prepare well, then you will receive your guests a lot more relaxed.
Tip: Set the table before you leave home. - Can children participate?
No. Of course your children can be at home, but they are not allowed to go to the other addresses.
Tip: For your own pleasure, arrange for childcare for children who are not independent. - Can you participate alone?
Yes, that is possible. You can also choose to register together with someone else. You will then receive your guests at one of two addresses and go to the other locations together. - How are the groups made?
We put together different groups for each course, so you get to know a lot of new people. We try to combine people from different neighbourhoods, but also check that it is feasible in terms of dietary requirements, travel distance and language. - How many guests will I have at the table?
In principle, we always combine three addresses and up to groups of five to six people. This depends on the registrations with one and two people. - Can you also participate if you are disabled?
Yes, that is possible. Please contact us via info@meerhoven.nl so that we can coordinate what needs to be taken into account. - Can you also participate if you do not live in Meerhoven?
The location where the guests are received must be in Meerhoven. - What is the schedule?
18:00 – reception at the address of the starter
19:00 – end of the starter
19:15 – reception at the address of the main course
20:30 – end of the main course
20:45 – reception at the address of the dessert
21:45 – end of the dessert
22:00 – afterparty at De Hangar to have a nice chat and share experiences (coffee/tea, beer or wine). - How do I make sure that my guests do not find a closed door?
If you are making the next course, feel free to leave 5 minutes earlier. If someone does arrive earlier; everyone participates and will understand that you are on your way. - Do you have to stick to the schedule?
Yes. You will always be in a different composition and will also receive guests who come from elsewhere. - What information do you share with the other participants?

These will be provided by those who provide a course. - Are there any costs associated with participation?
Only the costs for the meal (+ drinks) that you provide and the extra drinks at the afterparty in De Hangar. The first two drinks in De Hangar are at the expense of Residents’ Association Meerhoven. - What should I do if I cannot find an address?
In that case, contact the organization.

We recommend using a bicycle. You can also walk, but see if you can do that. We assume a travel time of maximum 15 minutes. So check in advance whether that is feasible. - What if I have another question?
