Eindhoven Airport goes for destinations with prestige

Eindhoven Airport is not allowed to grow for the time being. In order to be more than just a departure point for holiday flights, the airport provides a ‘subsidy’ to airlines that fly to ‘destinations of prestige’. Oslo is the first but not the last destination, as far as the airport is concerned.

Eindhoven Airport has a new approach to better connect the destination network to the needs of companies and residents. Airlines get paid when they fly to destinations that are on the airport’s wish list. The wish list includes Munich, Zürich, Geneva, Berlin and Stockholm. These are all destinations that are not currently offered from Eindhoven. The financial arrangement only applies to destinations that are more than 400 kilometers from Eindhoven Airport or that cannot be reached within four hours by train, bus or car.
