It often looks idyllic: large flocks of geese in green, watery places in the middle of the city. But those same geese are increasingly causing nuisance in Eindhoven. “They make noise and there is a lot of poop.”

Especially in Meerhoven people grumble. “There are so incredibly many of them, up to a hundred,” says a resident who filed a complaint via the BuitenBeter app. His complaint is recognized by Peter van den Berk of the foundation Beheer Park Meerland: paths are littered with excrement and walkers feel threatened by the animals, especially in the breeding season. The foundation has discussed the issue with the municipality. The latter has announced a feeding ban. Van den Berk: “But that is not yet definitive. It still has to be settled with the water board.”
