Employees of regional companies roll up their sleeves for asylum seekers in Meerhoven
In less than a month, a small village was built in Meerhoven for two hundred asylum seekers. The first residents will probably arrive on Monday, February 19, 2024. And a total of fifty employees from companies in the region lend a hand for the final jobs.
The hall of one of the pavilions of the emergency crisis shelter for asylum seekers on Noord Brabantlaan in Eindhoven was teeming with volunteers on Wednesday. They sit on the floor to screw together office chairs, assemble garden tables or cover the cushions of sofas. Today it concerns 25 employees from ASML, NXP, Philips, Dela, CSU and Markteffect who sacrifice their working or free time to help. They were brought together by Brainport for Each Other, the social initiative that Mayor Jeroen Dijsselbloem launched just over a year ago and of which he is proud.
