Indian community fed up with burglars, but receives little support

This weekend, the Indian community in the Eindhoven region called attention to the wave of burglaries that is plaguing them with a demonstration. According to bystanders, they should mainly look for the solution within themselves.

A group of protesters from India is completely fed up with burglars, as they made clear with slogans and banners in the Eindhoven city centre on Saturday. ‘Safe home, no invasion! Burglars are real criminals! Enough is enough!’ “We never really demonstrate”, activist Rajee Aswal apologizes. “But this time it couldn’t be helped. Our community has been plagued by burglaries for a long time. Two weeks ago, there were suddenly five in one day. Many of us were visiting a festival. On that very day, several Indians in the region were broken into, in Meerhoven, Valkenswaard and Waalre. We are apparently being watched, very scary!”
