The issue of seasonal places for oliebollen bakers in Eindhoven has turned into a drama for the second year in a row. Oliebollen bakers have lost their permanent place and once again point to the ‘worthless’ digital registration system that the municipality introduced.

The Verwijk family from Weert, who baked oliebollen at the Meerhoven shopping center for fifteen years in a row, is at their wits’ end. On Wednesday morning, Maria Verwijk and her father-in-law Erik were ready to book the permanent spot. They both made a mistake. Someone was a few seconds earlier and will get the place in Meerhoven for the next five years.
