The municipality of Eindhoven organizes an information meeting for residents and stakeholders on the future of Eindhoven Airport on Tuesday 3 April from 4 pm and 5 pm. The meeting takes place in the city hall, Stadhuisplein 1 in Eindhoven.

Eindhoven Airport is a military airport with civilian joint use. A so-called users permit is required for the take-off and landing of non-military aircraft. The Minister of Defense is responsible for this. The permit that is currently valid allows for a maximum of 43,000 civil aircraft movements per year. This permit expires on 31 December 2019. This means that as of 1 January 2020, a new users permit for the airport must be issued

Growth
The airport wants to grow further to around 70,000 flight movements per year. However, the growth ambitions of Eindhoven Airport are at odds with the quality of life in the area. Interest groups are concerned about noise pollution, air pollution, traffic nuisance and parking problems in the residential areas around the airport. Especially now that the Ministry is having growth scenarios investigated up to 100,000 flight movements. Last month, the city council was informed by the Ministry about the growth scenarios. The council now also wants to involve residents and stakeholders in the future of Eindhoven Airport.
