Minister follows advice: Eindhoven Airport may not expand in the coming years
Eindhoven Airport may not expand the number of take-offs and landings in the coming years. Modest growth is possible later, but that should not lead to additional noise nuisance. Minister Cora van Nieuwenhuizen writes this in a letter to the House of Representatives. She endorses the advice of former State Secretary Pieter van Geel, who published a report on the future of the airport.
The letter from Van Nieuwenhuizen seems good news for local residents and the region who are concerned about the expansion of the airport. The minister says that until 2022 the number of take-offs and landings should not grow further than the 41,500 expected to be reached at the end of this year.
