Moisture problems at Slingertouw school building still not resolved

The leakage problems that the Waterrijk location of primary school ’t Slingertouw in Meerhoven has been struggling with for years now have still not been resolved. The municipality now says that it will ‘continue to monitor’ the problems.

According to alderman Stijn Steenbakkers (CDA, education housing), ‘various construction measures have been implemented’ in recent times and ‘further investigations’ are also ongoing, as he informed the municipal council earlier this week. According to the alderman, it has now been agreed with the school that the municipality will henceforth be responsible for ‘controlling the moisture problems that are currently occurring in the basement floor’. “A complicating factor in this is also the (high, ed.) groundwater levels”, according to Steenbakkers.
