Party for special trees in Park Meerland

There is a green oasis in the middle of Meerhoven, Park Meerland, containing more than a thousand trees and shrubs from all over the world. This collection from the Arboretum was central on Sunday April 14, 2024 during the Arbor Day. And mayor Jeroen Dijsselbloem planted his own tree in the park for the occasion.

Because the mayor gets a tissue tree (also called a pennant tree), there are ropes with paper tissues attached to them near the place where the tree is planted. “I didn’t know it in advance, but I happen to have been walking around with paper tissues all week,” Dijsselbloem laughs.
