Plan to close Eindhoven Airport keeps critics busy, neighbours are amazed by a look behind the scenes
It was an absurd idea, but it is still being discussed: closing Eindhoven Airport and sacrificing it for housing. While a debate is taking place in Knegsel, the airport itself is opening its doors to local residents six kilometres away. They call it ‘Neighbours’ Day’.
Two meetings at the same time on Saturday, one mainly attended by critics, the other for ‘fans’. Taking a photo in a small plane, it was possible on Saturday in a hangar next to the large airport building. The neighbours were also able to take a look at the fire brigade’s crash tender, or the lift vehicle that takes people in wheelchairs on board.
