Remarkable VDL plan for Welschap: hundreds of houses in a circle with an athletics track on the roof
If it is up to industrial group VDL, a remarkable circular building with rental houses will be built on the former Welschap golf course in Eindhoven. According to the company, the three-storey wooden building has space for three to five hundred affordable homes.
Architect Marco Vermeulen drew a round athletics track of 1000 meters on the roof, which also generates solar power. And the current Welschapsedijk runs right through the building. According to the architect, it is a building in the middle of greenery that is completely turned inwards. “It looks impressive, yet it’s also modest.”
