Tents for asylum seekers in Meerhoven may remain in place for three years
The tents and chalets that the municipality of Eindhoven has built in Meerhoven for two hundred asylum seekers can remain in place for three years. This is stated in the permit granted on Thursday for the so-called crisis emergency shelter.
No deadline was yet mentioned in letters distributed in the neighbourhood on Tuesday. “We indeed assume that we will be there for a few years,” confirms director Thijs Eradus of the Springplank040 shelter organization, which was engaged by the municipality. “That was initially a surprise to us. We expected a few months.”
This week, construction of the tents and chalets for the crisis emergency shelter behind P+R Meerhoven started.
