Twenty official reports for young people in Meerhoven
On Friday, May 22, 2020, at around 8.30 pm, the police issued twenty official reports for 15 young people who had caused nuisance on and around the Meerplein in Meerhoven for some time.
The youngsters aged 14 to 17 years were detained by several police officers and received official reports for, among other things, mischief, staying unnecessarily in porticoes, driving without a helmet, driving in a pedestrian zone and not carrying an identification document.
Nuisance
Meerhoven has recently been ravaged by young people who cause nuisance in and around the center of Meerhoven. These include vandalism, noise nuisance, drunkenness and the leaving behind of rubbish. The problems mainly occur at night and in the early morning.
Cooperation
The police, the municipality, Dynamo Youth Work, the neighbourhood watch, the retailers association and the Meerhoven Residents’ Association work closely together to stop the nuisance. Local residents were asked last week by letter to report immediately in case of nuisance via 0900 8844 and to call 112 in the event of immediate danger. In addition, the police are currently carrying out intensive checks, including at night and in the early morning.
